Our Story
My leather crafting journey began in early 2022 — born from a simple desire to find a wallet worthy of everyday carry. Unable to find one that met my standards, I built one myself.
Word spread naturally. Colleagues noticed the quality and asked for custom pieces of their own. That organic beginning is what led to West Holland Goods today.
Each piece is made to order, fully customizable, and built to become better with age. No stock. No shortcuts. Just honest craftsmanship.

The Philosophy
"Quality like this cannot be rushed. Every stitch, every cut, every edge is finished by hand — because your gear deserves nothing less."
Full-Grain Leather
The highest quality cut of the hide. Not corrected, not split — raw character that develops a rich patina with every use and improves with age.
Precision Stitched
Saddle-stitched by hand using waxed thread. When one stitch breaks, the others hold — unlike machine sewing which unravels from a single point.
Made to Order
No inventory, no shortcuts. Every piece is built when you commission it — to your specifications, your badge shape, your leather, your thread.
Made in Canada
Every piece crafted in our Canadian workshop. Proudly serving law enforcement, first responders, and working professionals across the country.

Why Full-Grain Leather
Most leather goods you find on Amazon or in a department store use corrected-grain or bonded leather — the lowest tier. The surface is sanded down to hide imperfections, then embossed with an artificial grain. It looks fine at first, but within a year or two it cracks, peels, and falls apart. Full-grain leather is the opposite: the entire natural surface is kept intact, with all its strength and character. It costs more and takes longer to make — but it's the only leather that genuinely gets better with use.
The Patina
Full-grain leather develops a patina — a deepening of colour and sheen — as it absorbs light and the oils from your hands. No two pieces age the same way. After a year of carry, yours will look unlike anything you can buy off a shelf.
The Durability
The intact grain surface is the strongest part of the hide. A well-made full-grain wallet or holster will outlast a cheap leather product by a decade or more. Officers have come back years later with pieces that look better than when they left.
The Wait
Each piece is made to order, cut by hand, and stitched one at a time. The 8–12 week lead time isn't a delay — it's the process. You're not waiting for a warehouse to ship a box. You're waiting for something made specifically for you.
Made to Age Beautifully
"Full-grain leather isn't meant to stay new — it's meant to become yours. A little care keeps it strong, and lets its character deepen for years."
Everyday Care
Wipe your piece with a soft, dry cloth to lift dust and oils. For everyday carry, simply use it — natural handling keeps the leather supple and builds its character. There's no need to baby it.
Conditioning
Every 3–6 months, work a small amount of quality leather conditioner or balm into the leather with a soft cloth, then buff away the excess. A little goes a long way — over-conditioning can darken the hide. Always test a hidden spot first.
Water & Moisture
A few raindrops won't hurt. If your piece gets wet, blot (don't rub) with a dry cloth and let it air-dry naturally, away from heat. Once fully dry, a light conditioning restores its feel. Avoid prolonged soaking.
Sun & Heat
Keep leather out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators, vents, and hot dashboards. Heat draws out the natural oils and can cause drying or cracking. Gentle darkening from the sun, though, is natural and prized.
Scratches
Full-grain leather is forgiving. Light scratches and scuffs can often be buffed away with a fingertip or soft cloth — the warmth and natural oils help them blend into the patina. Deeper marks become part of the story.
Stains
Act quickly: blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid baby wipes, alcohol, and harsh cleaners, which can strip the finish. For stubborn marks, a leather-specific cleaner used sparingly is safest.
Storage
Store your piece in a cool, dry place, ideally in a dust bag. Let it breathe — never seal leather in plastic, which traps moisture. For bags, loosely stuff them to help hold their shape between uses.
The Patina
This is the reward. With time, light, and handling, full-grain leather deepens into a rich, one-of-a-kind patina. No two pieces age alike — yours becomes a quiet record of how you carry it.
What to Avoid
Keep these away from your leather: harsh chemical cleaners, baby wipes, and alcohol; prolonged soaking or submersion; direct heat and extended sun; and sealing it in plastic. When in doubt, less is more — a dry cloth and the occasional light conditioning are usually all your piece needs.
